Released in 2006, the DS Lite became an overnight sensation. Made only 2 years after it's original, the Lite is a slimmer, brighter, longer lasting, and aesthetically sleeker redesign of the already popular handheld. At it's launch, the new system was only available in Polar White. Seven months later, the Onyx Black and Coral Pink colors were released in North America, boosting the Lite's sales even higher.
Within the next few years, Nintendo released new colors for the DS Lite; Crimson/Black, Cobalt/Black, Metallic Rose, and Metallic Silver. Unfortunately, as of February 2008, the original three colors were no longer made. The Polar white was replaced by the Metallic Silver version, and the Coral pink replaced by Metallic Rose.
However, from the time of it's release to present day, Nintendo has released many Limited Edition DS Lites, some of which include: Ice Blue, Lime Green, Final Fantasy III edition, Pok�mon Dialga and Palkia editions, Mario vs. Donkey Kong edition, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass edition, and an Nintendogs edition.
